Mission

Reclaiming the lost art of rapid iterative prototyping to build fast and powerful aircraft on relevant timelines, delivering the high-speed systems our nation and its allies need to command the skies and deter global threats.

02
Introduction

Our Story

American aviation once moved at a groundbreaking pace. During the X-plane era and the rise of Skunk Works, small teams pushed the boundaries of flight through calculated risk and relentless experimentation. In 2018, AJ Piplica, Glenn Case, Skyler Shuford, and Michael Smayda founded Hermeus to bring that philosophy back and build the next great American aviation company.

Since then, Hermeus has moved from concept to hardware in record time. By flying our first aircraft in 2025 and reaching supersonic flight exactly 364 days later, Hermeus became the fastest company in aviation history to go from founding to supersonic flight. We built the world’s first private, unmanned supersonic jet - the fastest unmanned aircraft flying today. That commitment to speed defines us, and we’re only getting faster.

Our Team

Hermeus was built by people who move at breakneck speed and don’t take no for an answer. We’re a small team of engineers, technicians, pilots, and operators working across Los Angeles, Atlanta, Jacksonville, and D.C. with one shared goal: build the world’s fastest aircraft. We move with urgency, get the work done, and operate with high standards.
